I am so tried of scrolling through social media. Every day I fall into the trap of scrolling mindlessly and taking in a thousand videos, and most of them don't benefit me. Now, some of them are great and truly inspirational like this little girl who had cancer. I followed her journey up until she passed recently. I am grateful that social media provided her the platform to share her story because I have truly been changed by her.

Other than a few exceptions, I hate where it is going. I miss when blog posts were the thing and people still read magazines and newspapers. Maybe its not so much the new technology but the people who are using it. There are a lot of benefits to AI and social media but its the person behind it I fear that takes it too far.

Studies show that the new generations are struggling more and more with reading and I cant help but to think its because we have gotten away from the art of just sitting down and taking the time to read something. Not a summary of something, but just reading. I am sure no one will read this but that's ok, it feels good to do something that I feel is forgotten.

Change is great, but some things should stay the same, and I think Blogging my thoughts and honest book reviews should be one of them. Maybe I am the only one but after I read a book I like to look up what people also thought about it, so hopefully mine reaches the curious reader.

I have been reading the Clock Makers Wife by Daisy Woods. I have read one other book by her called: The Forgotten Bookshop In Paris. Both of these books are set in the WW2 era.

I loved The Forgotten Bookshop which is what prompted me to get this new book. This book has truly captivated my attention. If only I could read faster because I just want to know what the ending entails.

Social media would of been great during this time because so many people got separated and were never reunited. If something like this happened today we could simply post a photo of our loved one and spread the word around the world in minutes. Sadly, this was not the case back then. Anytime I read a book about this era, it makes me so grateful for the life I have had so far, yet fearful about repeating history.

Moments in the book took my breath away, I constantly forget or rather just block out how evil people can be. I don't understand yet I completely understand how someone like Hitler came to power. How so many people could follow him and actually hate an entire population to the point where they would destroy their businesses, spit on them, kill them, and outright HATE & blame them for all of their problems. It makes my skin crawl and my insides feel hot when I think about this. Yet it happened and was started by a man that didn't even have a college degree.

Which is fine if you don't have a college degree lol I also do not have one, but having that high of a position I think you should. Anyways, this book just drilled home how important it is that we remember and that we never repeat the past, and how easily we could if we just let one thing slide. I think about the verse in the bible: A little leaven leavens the whole lump.

Anyways, I should probably get off of here and finish the book already! Thanks for reading.

UNTIL NEXT TIME
